After Waffling A Bit, Hack Declares For NFL Draft

The Nittany Lions' record-setting passer is giving up his final season of eligibility to head to the pros.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg missed the final two-plus quarters of the Nittany Lions’ 24-17 TaxSlayer Bowl loss to Georgia with a sprained throwing shoulder.

But that didn’t stop him from executing a reverse after the game.

During his postgame press conference, Hackenberg was asked how he would approach the next couple of weeks with respect to any decision he had to make about possibly declaring for the 2016 NFL Draft.

“I’m not sure right now with this thing,” he replied.

Later, however, he was asked about it again. And he decided to come clean.

The record-setting junior announced he was declaring for the NFL Draft.

“We just felt, my family and I, that this was the best time for me,” Hackenberg said.

He said a lot more than that, though. Check out the key parts of his press conference above.
