REPORT CARD: Penn State vs. Georgia

Who made the grade and who came up short as the Nittany Lions fell to the Bulldogs in Jacksonville? We let you know.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Our report card from Penn States 24-17 TaxSlayer Bowl loss to Georgia.

OVERALL: You have to play four quarters of solid ball to beat an SEC team, even one as so-so as the Bulldogs.

Grade: C-

OFFENSE: PSU was 4 of 18 on third down. Pretty much sums up the issues with the offense.

Grade: C-

DEFENSE: There were a few breakdowns, but this unit at least gave the offense a chance to tie it late.

Grade: C+

SPECIAL TEAMS: James Franklin really has to work on getting this area stronger in the offseason.

Grade: C

COACHING: So much time to prepare. So little new that we saw.

Grade: C-

INTANGIBLES: State seemed to have some juice early but the typical issues with penalties erased it.

Grade: C-

OTHER GUY: Contrary to most expectations, the Bulldogs did look like they wanted to be here.

Grade: B

OFFICIALS: The late-hit call on DT Austin Johnson late in the game seemed dicey.

Grade: C

CROWD: It was far from a packed house (58,212) but the fans (from both squads) in EverBank Field were into it.

Grade: B
