Former Penn State standouts NaVorro Bowman (San Francisco 49ers) and Tamba Hali (Kansas City Chiefs) have already been selected to the 2016 NFL Pro Bowl. However, many NFL and Penn State fans were baffled by the exclusion of Jacksonville Jaguar and former Nittany Lion WR Allen Robinson.
Robinson was initially named as first alternate receiver despite having one of the best wideout season performances in Jaguars' history and one of the best NFL seasons as a receiver in 2015.
With Calvin Johnson pulling out of the game due to injury, Robinson takes the spot.
“It’s definitely an honor, but no individual success comes without the help of amazing teammates and coaches," Robinson said in a statement. "I’m looking forward to the experience in Hawaii and the opportunity to be around so many of the great talents of our league.”
Robinson is tied for the league's best 14 touchdown catches. He also caught 80 passes for 1,400 yards.
