FOS Throwback Video: Lee & Bowman Form Bond

Check out the 2016 NFL Pro Bowl standouts when they both faced a make-or-break time during their Nittany Lion careers.

Former Penn State linebackers and teammates Sean Lee and NaVorro Bowman starred in the NFL Pro Bowl in Honolulu Sunday, with each grabbing an interception for the winning Team Irvin.

Near the end of the game, the duo — who play for the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, respectively — did a sideline interview during which they were asked about playing together as Nittany Lions back at “Linebacker U.”

They were only able to say a few words each.

But FOS was there back in the day. And we were on hand at the Lift For Life Challenge in July of 2009, which was very much a make-or-break time for both future pros.

Lee was coming off an ACL tear that cost him the entire 2008 season and spring practice in 2009. Bowman (whose first name was spelled a little differently then) was coming off some minor off-field issues that kept him out of spring ball in 2009.

But both were back at LFL in July of ‘09. And they teamed with fellow future NFL players Josh Hull and Mickey Shuler to attack the once-daunting strength and conditioning challenge.

Check out our Throwback Video of the event above, and get a feel for why Lee and Bowman have a bond that lasts until today.
