PSU Class Of 2016: Sleeper

It is going to take Cameron Brown some time to grow into the player we expect him to be. That's why we're tabbing the four-star prospect as a sleeper for the Nittany Lions.

OK, so maybe it is a bit of a copout to go with a four-star prospect like Cameron Brown in this spot. But hear us out. has Brown rated as an outside linebacker, and some think the 6-foot-5, 200-pounder will play that position in college. We don't. Don't be a bit surprised if Brown ends up playing defensive end for the Nittany Lions.

And that's where we view him as a sleeper, especially when compared to fellow Maryland native and four-star Shane Simmons, the 6-3, 225-pounder who will arrive on campus prepared to contribute more quickly.

Brown is a terrific athletic. He has a good frame that appears capable of holding considerably more weight. He has long arms. Outside of a 3-4 defense — which is not PSU's base — we have not seen many linebackers who look like Brown. For the Semper Fi All-American Bowl earlier this year, Brown spent most of his time (in practices and the game) as an edge rusher.

Right now, you could easily mistake him for a receiver. But give him a couple of years of working out in Dwight Galt's weight room and being in PSU's nutrition program, and look out.
