Penn State Goes Cold In B1G Tourney Loss

A hot shooting start put the Nittany Lions in front against Ohio State. But they cooled off in the second half of a 79-75 loss.

INDIANAPOLIS — No. 10 seed Penn State had No. 7 seed Ohio State on the run here Thursday, bolting out to a double-digit lead in the first half of a Big Ten Tournament game.

But the Nittany Lions, who hit 7 of 12 3-pointers in the first half, cooled off in the second. Despite trailing by as many as nine themselves, they clawed back in it. But in the end, they ran out of steam in a 79-75 loss.

PSU got 25 points from Shep Garner and 18 from Brandon Taylor. But it made only a pair of triples in the second half.

The Lions also struggled with the officiating. Three different Penn State players fouled out as OSU went 26 of 39 from the line.

PSU falls to 16-16 with the win and its season may well be over. Stay tuned for news on that front.

OSU improved to 20-12.
