INDIANAPOLIS — In all likelihood, Penn State’s 2015-16 season ended with a 79-75 loss to Ohio State at Bankers Life Fieldhouse here Thursday.
At 16-16 overall, the Nittany Lions have little chance of earning an NIT bid and do not seem inclined to accept an invite to a lesser postseason tournament.
In five seasons at the helm of the program, head coach Pat Chambers has yet to earn and NCAA or NIT bid. But, after signing the best recruiting class in school history in November — not to mention logging his best Big Ten record (7-11) to date — Chambers continues to have the full support of the one person who matters most.
“I believe we’ve got the right guy,” second-year athletic director Sandy Barbour said after Thursday’s game. “We’re showing improvement and we’re gonna get to where we all want to be.”
We caught up with Barbour in the noisy — and busy — behind-the-scenes hallways of Bankers Life shortly after Thursday’s game. See what she had to say about Chambers, recruiting, the direction of the program and more.
“There’s an awful lot to be really excited about,” she said.null
