Penn State’s quiet offseason is not so quiet anymore.
According to court documents, on March 8 Nittany Lion senior tight end Brent Wilkerson was charged with a misdemeanor count of indecent assault and a summary count of harassment stemming from an alleged incident in State College in February. State College police brought the charges.
The document includes no details of the alleged incident.
Penn State Athletics released a statement on Wilkerson Tuesday night.
“We are aware of the charges against Mr. Wilkerson. He has been suspended indefinitely from all football and team activities until we have more information. We will not have any additional comment as this is an ongoing legal matter.”
Wilkerson had six catches for 39 yards last season. He faces a preliminary hearing April 6.
Penn State begins spring practice Friday.
TV station WJAC first reported the news of the charges.
