Senior tight end Brent Wilkerson has been dismissed from the Penn State football team.
According to court documents, on March 8 Wilkerson was charged with a misdemeanor count of indecent assault and a summary count of harassment stemming from an alleged incident in State College in February. State College police brought the charges. Wilkerson was immediately suspended from the team.
Wednesday, PSU issued a statement saying Wilkerson had been dismissed: "Brent Wilkerson is no longer a member of the Penn State football team due to a violation of team rules. We appreciate Brent’s contributions to the program and wish him success in the future."
Wilkerson's case was recently bound over for trial in the Court of Common Pleas of Centre County. A pre-trial conference is slated for July 19 in Bellefonte, Pa.
