Pennsylvania Class of 2018 offensive tackle Fredrick "Juice" Scruggs visited Penn State Saturday. He came away from Happy Valley with an offer from the Nittany Lions.
"Penn State is an incredible place, from the facilities to the coaching staff,” Scruggs said. “The visit was outstanding.
"My coach told me it was likely I’d get an offer from PSU, but I didn't believe it until it happened,” he added. “Words can't describe how I feel about this offer."
The offer was a group effort.
"Coach (Matt) Limegrover, Coach (Joe) Moorhead and Coach (James) Franklin offered me the scholarship,” Scruggs said. “Coach Franklin was telling me on game day inside Beaver Stadium, it would be the third most populous city in Pennsylvania. That's crazy to think about.
"I'll most definitely be coming back for another visit to Penn State,” he added.
However, the date of the next visit has yet to be set.
As for other schools, Scruggs plans to check out Michigan State in June but does not have anything else planned at this point.
Loney's Take: Early on, I would say it’s going to be a battle between Penn State and Michigan State. Note that when Scruggs received an MSU offer Friday, he immediately pinned it atop his Twitter feed.
