Penn State Visit Suits Michigan Class of 2018 DE Commit Taylor

The young Ohio standout was impressed by what he saw during his trip to Happy Valley.

Springfield, Ohio, four-star Class of 2018 defensive end Leonard Taylor is committed to Michigan. But that hasn’t stopped him from setting up visits to other programs.

Saturday, he was in Happy Valley checking out Penn State.

"I loved everything at Penn State,” he said. “From the facilities to campus to the coaching staff — I loved it. The campus is absolutely beautiful.

“The coaches are all welcoming,” he added. “I could definitely see myself at PSU."

Asked to compare the Penn State and Michigan campuses, Taylor said, “I would say it's even at this moment, but PSU is very nice.”

Taylor intends to make a return trip to Penn State, but has yet to schedule a date. He said he will be at Notre Dame June 2, and possibly Ohio State and Michigan later in June.

So how firm is his commitment to Jim Harbaugh’s program?

“My commitment is 100 percent solid, but I am also keeping my options open,” Taylor explained.

As such, he does have a list of favorite schools.

"My top five, in no order, would be Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Penn State,” he said.

Loney's Take: It sure looks like Taylor is going to end up somewhere in the Big Ten. Though he says he is firm in his commitment, the fact that he is taking so many other visits indicates Penn State (and others) will have every chance to flip him.
