Ohio four-star recruit Matt Dotson had a special tour guide on his trip from the Cincinnati area to make a visit to Penn State last weekend.
Sean Clifford, the four-star quarterback from St. Xavier who committed to the Nittany Lions last July, was with the Moeller tight end on the journey.
“The visit was great,” Dotson said. “I really enjoyed myself in Happy Valley. We took a tour of the campus and facilities, and talked to the coaches. The entire coaching staff made time on my visit to speak to me about the new offense — and everything about Penn State football and academics.
"I think the new offense under Coach (Joe) Moorhead would be a good fit for me,” he added.
Dotson enjoyed the visit so much he might return to Penn State this coming weekend. He’d also like to make a trip to Michigan State soon.
"In no order, my top three are Penn State, Michigan State and Michigan,” he reported.
At the same time, Dotson also admitted that his buddy from Cincinnati could well play a factor in his decision.
"I could see myself playing at Penn State with my best friend, Sean Clifford,” Dotson said.
Dotson is planning to announce his decision at The Opening, which is being held July 5-10 in Beaverton, Ore.
Loney's Take: Penn State has the edge here, what with Dotson considering making another trip to Happy Valley so soon and his close relationship to Clifford.
