2018 PA Safety Charlie Katshir Sure Enjoys Penn State Visit

And the Nittany Lion coaching staff is getting some help as it recruits the Cumberland Valley standout.

Pennsylvania Class of 2018 safety Charlie Katshir made the short drive from the Harrisburg area to Happy Valley for a Penn State visit last weekend.

Though the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder from Cumberland Valley High is still waiting for a PSU offer — Virginia is the only FBS school that has offered so far — he still enjoyed the trip up Route 322.

"It was awesome,” he said. “I went on a tour of the campus and facilities. I loved everything at Penn State. … Coach (Brent) Pry and Coach (James) Franklin talked to me during the visit. They told me PSU is very much interested in me."

The strongest recruiting pitch came from Micah Parsons, the Class of 2018 five-star defensive end who has already committed to the Lions. Parsons is also from the Harrisburg area (Central Dauphin High).

"He was telling me that I need to stay in-state and join him at Penn State,” Katshir said.

Syracuse, Boston College and Pitt are also showing interest in Katshir. As for Penn State, he intends to get back to Happy Valley this summer, but is not sure exactly when. No other visits are set in stone at this point.

Katshir said he has no early favorites and that he is in no hurry to make a college decision.

Loney's Take: An offer from Penn State would likely put the Nittany Lions in the driver’s seat here.
