Penn State entered the mix for Virginia three-star linebacker Brailyn Franklin with an offer last week. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder immediately moved the Nittany Lions to his list of leaders, along with Virginia Tech and Maryland.
"I have Penn State high on my list right now,” Franklin said. “I'm in love with the coaching staff, and I'm very interested in the school. Overall the program gives me a warm feeling."
He noted that the Lion coaching staff loves his versatility.
"The offered me as hybrid outside linebacker and strong safety,” Franklin said. “Coach (James) Franklin, Coach Chaos (Sean Spencer) and Coach (Brent) Pry told me they like me as an outside linebacker who can also be used as someone who drops back into coverage."
Franklin has already made three visits to Penn State and plans to return to Happy Valley for the Lasch Bash next month. He admits he could seem himself wearing the Blue and White.
"If I were to commit to Penn State, it would be the perfect place for me to compete at a high-level, work hard and be serious about my life after football,” he said.
Franklin currently doesn't have any other visits planned. But he does have an idea of when he’ll commit to a school.
"I could make my college decision after the first game of my senior season or in the middle of season,” he said.
