Class of 2018 prospect notes: Pennsylvania edition

Four-star safety Isheem Young visited Penn State before heading down to IMG Academy.  I personally believed it would be hard for Penn State to land Young once he went down there due to the allure of playing football in the south.  Young ended up coming back to Pennsylvania a few weeks later and cited the reason being that he wanted to be close enough to take care of his family.  Young is now back in Pennsylvania and even though he will continue to be heavily recruited, I believe Penn State will be more of a factor in his recruitment than I once initially thought.

Penn State and Virginia are the only two schools to offer 2018 linebacker prospect Charlie Katshir out of Cumberland Valley High School (PA) so far.  I think this will bode well for Penn State in the long run because once the word really gets out about how good Katshir is, there will be more schools offering him in the next several months.  Katshir is also getting serious looks from West Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse and Boston College. Katshir has intercepted 17 passes from his safety position during his first two years high school football.

I talked briefly with four-star WR Jahan Dotson, who transferred from Nazereth High School (PA) to the Peddie School in New Jersey and said "it's been alright so far."  Dotson has offers from all of the Power 5 conferences and says that he has not set a time-frame for when he'll narrow his list of schools down.  It's pretty early in his recruitment, so the fact that he isn't giving too much thought to narrowing his list shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.
