Where does Penn State stand with some of the uncommitted players in the Scout 300?

Scout National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn released an article that looked at which schools are trending for uncommitted members of the 2017 class in the Scout 300. According to the predictions made by Dohn, only one out of the one hundred plus players listed are trending towards Penn State.

Nathan Proctor ranked #160 in the Scout 300 for the 2017 class, was the only player that Dohn listed as trending towards Penn State.

Lamont Wade and D’Andre Swift, both in-state targets, are trending elsewhere according to Dohn. Swift, who will decide on August 1st, is trending towards Georgia.  Wade, who is planning to decide on December 16th, is now trending towards Pitt.

Penn State has five players from the 2017 class in the Scout 300. That puts the Nittany Lions in a three-way tie with Michigan and Nebraska if you consider only the Big Ten conference when looking at this list.  Ohio State sits alone at first place with sixteen players on the 2017 Scout 300 list.

D’Andre Swift is set to decide on September 1st. It would be great if Penn State could nab the best in-state back for the third year in a row, but all bets are on Swift headed to Georgia.

I spoke with four-star defensive end Micah Parsons about his offseason, recruiting and his upcoming season. As discussed on the TAP board, Parsons plans to visit Penn State for their home opener against Kent State.  Regarding his high school team, Parsons says that he wants to do whatever he can to become a great teammate.  There are plans to use him on offense as both a running back and wide receiver.

Parsons has received a ton of attention since the end of last season.  He made it a point to stress that it’s all about the team and not just him.  Parsons says he is focused on helping his team win a state championship.
