ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Our report card from Penn State's 49-10 shellacking at the hands of Michigan.
Sure, Michigan is the much more talented and experienced program at this point, and nearly everyone expected the Wolverines to roll. But a 39-point loss can only result in one grade.
Colorado scored 28 points on Michigan. Penn State managed only 10? There were plays to be made that simply were not.
We have to give some allowance for the unreal bad luck Penn State has had at linebacker.
Jabrill Peppers popped one long punt return for the Wolverines but otherwise PSU was pretty solid on special teams.
The Nittany Lions came out flat (again). The pattern of early, momentum-killing mistakes continues to plague this team. And there were a couple of very dicey decisions on fourth downs.
Michigan played will all sorts of swagger. Only a handful of Nittany Lions did the same.
Michigan looked like the No. 4 team in the country. We'll get a better idea of how good the Wolverines are when Wisconsin visits next week.
Why bother having video review of targeting calls if the review official is going to be unwilling to overturn it?
A throng of 110,319 showed up. And they were into it even after the game became a laugher.
