Sickels Sacks FOS Player of the Game

Defensive end Garrett Sickels honored by Penn State fans as their Fight On State Player of the Ohio State Game.

Penn State fans gave a hearty thank you for the Herculean effort of Garrett Sickels in the epic primetime victory over Ohio State. Despite missing the first half of the game due to a temporary suspension, Sickels was a monster force on the defensive front grabbing nine tackles (three solo), 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss while placing J.T. Barrett on edge throughout the second half of the contest.

Sickels received 39 percent of the fan vote, edging out defensive teammates Brandon Bell (LB) who received 35 percent of the ballots for his 19 tackles (8 solo), one sack and one tackle for loss and Grant Haley (CB) who had a legendary 60 yd blocked field goal return for the go-ahead touchdown. Sickles was also instrumental in helping the Lion defense grab six sacks against OSU, a team that only allowed five in its previous six games this season. http://www.scout.com/college/penn-state/story/1721573-penn-state-vs-purd...
