Penn State-Purdue: FOS Report Card

Who made the grade and who came up short as the Nittany Lions crushed the Boilermakers? We let you know.

WEST LAFAYETTE — Our report card from No. 24 Penn State’s 62-24 beat-down of Purdue here Saturday.

Things looked dicey at the half. But a 38-point win is a 38-point win.

Grade: B+

Impressive how Joe Moorhead’s group has improved from the start of the season AND so often from the first half to the second half of most games.

Grade: B+

It looked like it was going to be a long day, but then the D turned in a pivotal play that pretty much doomed the Boilermakers.

Grade: B

Another huge takeway from this crew. But some more mistakes in the form of a duck punt, a kickoff out of bounds and a penalty that wiped out a nice return.

Grade: B

All three phases seem to be making strong halftime adjustments now.

Grade: B+

The Lions never looked flustered, even when they were not playing particularly well. There was a sense of, “We’ve got this.”

Grade: A

This team has been through a lot this season, and played with lots of heart in the first half.

Grade: D+

The flags were flying (there were 19 penalties in all). But most of them seemed legit.

Grade: B

Man, is this a basketball town or what? The crowd was listed at 33,157 but we’re guessing it was about 10,000 fewer than that. Roads around Ross-Ade Stadium were empty shortly before kick.

Grade: F
