Penn State vs. Iowa: FOS Report Card

Who made the grade and who came up short as the Nittany Lions easily beat the Hawkeyes at Beaver Stadium? We let you know.

Our report card from No. 12 Penn State’s easier-than-expected 41-14 win vs. Iowa.

Terrific all-around effort in a game where critics were wondering if the Nittany Lions deserved their high ranking.

Grade: A

Nearly 600 yards of total offense vs. what had been a pretty good defense was just crazy.

Grade: A+

Some clutch stops early in the game and a dominating effort overall. Iowa didn’t reach the end zone for a second time until long after the Lions had gone deep into their bench.

Grade: A

Mostly good stuff. But having another field goal blocked was definitely not good.

Grade: B+

Penn State’s trend for improving over the course of the season and during the course of each game continued.

Grade: A

This hardly looked like the Nittany Lions who were snake-bitten by Iowa for all of those years. Probably because it is not.

Grade: A

Former Lion killer Kirk Ferentz had no answers for James Franklin and company.

Grade: D

Yeah, we know the roughing the QB flags were a bit dicey. But that’s the way officials are calling games these days. PSU must strike a balance between being aggressive and being smart — which is not always easy.

Grade: C

We did not feel quite the energy we did for the Ohio State game. But it was still very good.

Grade: B+
