Rose Bowl Picks Barkley as Player of the Week

Penn State's stellar sophomore running back, Saquon Barkley, honored by the Rose Bowl as its Big Ten Player of the Week for his outstanding performance against Iowa.

Penn State's outstanding running back Saquon Barkley has been named as the Rose Bowl Game's Big Ten Player of the Week thanks to another outstanding performance, this time against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Barkley rolled up 211 all-purpose yards in the 41-14 primetime blowout, including 167 rushing yards and 44 receiving yards. He also scored one touchdown on the ground and a second through the air.

The sophomore running back is the third Nittany Lion to be honored by the Rose Bowl this season as its Big Ten Player of the Week. Previously Marcus Allen was honored on October 3 and Grant Haley on October 24.

Barkley currently lead the Big Ten in total rushing yards with 1,055 and rushing yards per game with 117.2. Barkley has now eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in each of his first two seasons with Penn State and is now 21-yards away from the 1,076 yard mark he reached as a freshman.
