FOS Fearless Forecast: Penn State @ Indiana

The FOS staff and friends give their prognostications for the No. 10 Nittany Lions' trip to Bloomington to take on the Hoosiers.

Nirav Dalal (PlaybookNirav)

COMMENT: Indiana is very good against the run, and when you couple that with PSU's injuries on the O-line, I think this game will be tight. But the inconsistency of IU kicker Griffin Oakes will allow PSU to win a tough, close game on the road.

PREDICTION: Penn State 24, Indiana 21

Scott Cole (PSU96)

COMMENT: I had this game down in the preseason as one Penn State would lose that it should not. The last five weeks have served to change my mind. Both offenses can put up big numbers, but the Penn State defense will be the difference in this one and lead the way to a second straight road win.

PREDICTION: Penn State 31, Indiana 24

fp001

COMMENT: PSU continues its resurgence, as the defense does just enough and Barkley again continues to dominate. This will be the first "sloppy" game PSU plays in a bit, but the momentum continues.

PREDICTION: Penn State 31, Indiana 24

Mark Harrington (PlaybookMark)

COMMENT: Penn State is seeing elevated play on both sides of the ball. While many will dub this another trap game, I expect we'll see a few speed bumps with the Lions hitting their stride to create opportunities to pull ahead.

PREDICTION: Penn State 34, Indiana 23

Rob Riva (rriva)

COMMENT: A very hot Penn State team heads to Bloomington riding a lot of momentum. Slow starts, particularly on the road, have been a sore spot all season for this otherwise solid squad. Indiana is pesky and has mobile options at quarterback that can present an issue if the Lions don't take care of business.

PREDICTION: Indiana: 31, Penn State 30

Keith "Goon" Conlin (KeithConlin)

COMMENT: Keeping it going! Gotta watch out for a team like Indiana, but think James Franklin will have ’em ready. Another step closer to a 10-win season. EDITOR'S NOTE: The Lions have won five straight with Goon picking against them, so he refuses to mess with his reverse magic.

PREDICTION: Indiana 38, Penn State 24

Tom Hoffman (underscoreTom)

COMMENT: It's been full steam ahead for Penn State the last few weeks, but the Bloomington station seems the most dangerous of those left on the track. IU has a pesky offense that can score points if you're not disciplined, and motivation to reach bowl eligibility. I think this one will be a nail biter.

PREDICTION: Penn State 31, Indiana 28

Scott Neal (PSUMtnBike)

COMMENT: Indiana at sleepy Memorial Stadium for a noon game will be a challenge. But the Nittany Lions will take control in the second half and put it away.

PREDICTION: Penn State 41, Indiana 24

Tom McLaughlin (WeRPSUPlaybook)

COMMENT: Suddenly Penn State is a force to be reckoned with. I'm impressed with the staff and the team, and their ability to pull it together after the early loss to Pitt and the blowout loss to Michigan. Indiana figures to be the toughest test remaining on the Lions' schedule, and the Hoosiers are unpredictable and potentially dangerous. If Penn State remains focused, the Lions should prevail, and will have an excellent chance to win out and finish the season in the top 10.

PREDICTION: Penn State 35, Indiana 24

Mark Brennan (MarkBrennan)

COMMENT: Indiana's potent offense really stopped itself in last week's closer-than-it-should-have-been win at Rutgers. I think the Hoosiers clean up the mistakes and move the ball vs. PSU. But I don't see the IU defense stopping the Nittany Lion offense. Take the over.

PREDICTION: Penn State 40, Indiana 28

Ed001

COMMENT: Many Penn State fans are concerned that this is a trap game for the Lions, who are riding a five-game winning streak and coming off another big emotional White Out win. An away game at noon, against an IU squad that has played PSU tough in recent years. However, this is a different PSU squad and coaching staff. The Lions are clicking on all cylinders — offense, defense and special teams. Franklin has them believing in his theme of 1-0 this week. We see a bit more of coordinator Joe Morehead's offensive package. The offense continues to roll behind McSorely, Barkley and a stellar WR group. Indy keeps it close early, then the Lions roll!

PREDICTION: Penn State 41, Indiana 21
