PSU Hockey Dominates Michigan in 6-1 Win

Penn State men's hockey opens up Big Ten conference play with a dominating 6-1 victory over the Michigan Wolverines.

The No. 7 Nittany Lions' (12-1-1) men's hockey squad opened up Big Ten play against No. 20 Michigan (6-6-1) on Thursday evening and the boys in Blue and White held nothing back in a rollover performance of the Wolverines that ended up as a 6-1 victory.

The win extends the nation's longest unbeaten streak of 12 games (11-0-1) for Penn State which has resulted in the highest ranking for the program in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll at No. 6 and USCHO.com poll at No. 7.

The two meetings against Michigan this weekend marks the 15th and 16th games in the all-time series, with the Wolverines holding the 8-7-0 advantage while Penn State now has a 4-2 record at home in Pegula Ice Arena.

Penn State will face off with the Wolverines in the second matchup of the series on Friday evening at 7:00 pm. After Friday's game the Lions will resume Big Ten play after the new year with a double header against Ohio State on Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7.
