Emmert Addresses Penn State's Season

NCAA President Mark Emmert addressed Penn State's 2016 football season calling it "spectacular."

On Wednesday NCAA president Mark spoke at the Learfield Intercollegiate Athletics Forum. During the event the topic of Penn State's 2016 football season came up. According to ESPN Emmert addressed the Nittany Lions, saying:

"I thought Penn State's season was spectacular. What Coach [James] Franklin has done there is very, very impressive. It's great for those young men and that fan base."

He added that Penn State went through an awful situation, but the football program "is still Penn State."

Emmert also addressed the sanctions handed to Penn State saying, according to ESPN:

"People occasionally will say, 'Well, those sanctions were meant to cripple the university. That's not true at all. Never was. I've always said and always believed Penn State is, first and foremost, a great university, because it is. Secondly, it's got wonderful sports traditions. How can you not be pleased they're playing very good football?"
