Milestone Moment for Penn State Men's Hockey

The Nittany Lion men's hockey team receives first place votes for the first time ever as the squad sits at No. 3 in both national polls.

Although the Penn State men's hockey team was off this weekend, it was a milestone moment for the squad as the Nittany Lions received four first place votes in the USCHO poll. It marks the first time Penn State has received a first place vote in the poll. The Lions remained at No. 3 nationally in the rankings.

Penn State's 886 points are 62 away from No. 2 Denver and 105 from No. 1 Minnesota-Duluth.The Nittany Lions are followed in the poll by conference foes Ohio State at No. 9 and Minnesota at No. 11. Michigan and Wisconsin each received a single vote in the poll.

The Lions also moved up one in the  USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll to No. 3. PSU received one first place vote in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

Penn State's last action was a two-game sweep of Michigan where they outscored the Wolverines across both contests 11-2. The Lions will resume Big Ten play after the new year with a double header against Ohio State on Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7.
