Junior tight end Mike Gesicki has announced he has decided to return to Penn State for his senior season in 2017. Gesicki had alluded to getting an NFL evaluation when FOS editor Mark Brennan asked him about his NFL plans last week.
Now, in an announcement through Penn State's Athletic Department Gesicki says he will return next season.
Mike Gesicki / Penn State
Gesicki's return is a major boost for Penn State's offense heading into next season. This year he was the Nittany Lions' second best receiver in terms of receptions (47), receiving yards (668) and receiving touchdowns (4). He's also been instrumental blocker and an all-around hard-nosed player who makes clutch catches for Joe Moorhead's offense. Given the youth of the Lion squad heading into next season, Penn State will have the bulk of its receiving game back, but having an experienced tight end like Gesicki will be invaluable to the PSU air attack.
