The year 2017 was barely a few minutes old when Penn State landed it seventh commitment for the Class of 2018.
Just after midnight his time, Texas four-star defensive back Isaiah Humphries announced his commitment to James Franklin's program via Twitter.
Humphries is the son of former Nittany Lion and early 1990s starting DB Leonard Humphries.
But Isaiah Humphris told FOS recruiting reporter Patrick Loney his dad did not try to push him to Happy Valley.
"My dad didn't play a role in my recruitment, he didn't even know I was going to commit to Penn State." the younger Humphries said. "I think Penn State is the best place for me because of the opportunities it offers and the program it has. Academically, it's great. And athletically, it is great as well. … I've known for a while now, but really decided after the last game of my season (Nov. 18) that Penn State is the school for me."
