Penn State men's hockey resumed their season after the winter break with a road series against the No. 11 Ohio State Buckeyes. The No. 2 Nittany Lions dropped the series opener 3-0 after a rusty start. The Lions pounced on the redemption opportunity in the second game of the double-header when freshman Brandon Biro scored the opening goal and had a key assist in the 4-2 victory.
The win moved the Lions to 14-2-1 on the season and 3-1-0-0 in conference play, with the Buckeyes moving to 10-3-5 on the year and 2-2-0-0 in B1G competition.
In the second game, PSU scored one goal in the second and had a strong third period finding the net three times, while holding off two goals from the Buckeyes. The Lions outshot Ohio State 43 to 26 in the second game as the team got its rhythm back.
The Nittany Lions had a diverse set of scorers in the second game with four different players finding the net, including Biro, Erik Autio, Ricky DeRosa and Chase Berger.
Penn State returns home to face Michigan State in a two game series next weekend on January 13 and 14 with both contests scheduled for 7 pm ET.
