Penn State men's hockey team swept Michigan State in a weekend double-header to with a 4-2 victory in the opening contest on Friday and a 4-1 win in the Saturday matchup. The No. 11 Lions improved to 20-8-2 on the year, good for its second consecutive 20-win season and 9-6-1 in conference play. Michigan State fell to 6-21-3 on the season and 2-12-2 in Big ten play.
In game one Alec Marsh, Chase Berger, Dylan Richard and David Goodwin all found the net for scores.
In the second clash Nate Sucese scored twice with Denis Smirnov and Andrew Sturtz each finding the net twice.
Across the two games Penn State out-shot the Spartans 74-51. Penn State has had the Spartan's number over the past two seasons, going 7-0-1 against the Spartans.
Next up the Spartans head back to Happy Valley to face Wisconsin in a weekend doubleheader with a 7 pm faceoff on Friday and an 8 pm faceoff on Saturday. The Saturday clash will be Senior Night for the Nittany Lion seniors.
