PSU Hockey Beats No. 1 Minnesota 2OT

Penn State's men's hockey team posted a thrilling 4-3 double overtime victory over top-seeded Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament in Detroit.

No. 4 Penn State's men's hockey team defeated No. 1 Minnesota with a 4-3 double overtime victory in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals in Detroit. The double overtime game was 93:33 in length, becoming the longest in Penn State program and Big Ten history surpassing the previous record held by the Nittany Lions of 92:47 in a 2-1 double-overtime victory against Michigan on March 20, 2014 in the inaugural Big Ten Tournament.

Despite going 0-4 in the regular season against Minnesota, the Nittany Lions came to play, outshooting the Gophers 63-40 with a 6-2 power-play advantage. Once again an array of Nittany Lion players scored in the contest, including Nikita Pavlychev (first period), Alec Marsh (second period), Dylan Richard (third period) and Erik Autio, who scored on a power-play in the second overtime.

The win moves Penn State to 23-11-2 on the season. The Lions now advance to the Championship game against No. 2 Wisconsin on Saturday. Penn State is 3-1 against the Badgers this season.
