Penn State Lax Named No. 1 in Three Polls

The Penn State men's lacrosse team defeated No. 5 Ohio State 9-4 in front of a record crowd, advancing the Nittany Lions to the top spot of three national polls.

Penn State's men's lacrosse team advanced to 10-0 on the year and 1-0 in Big Ten play with an impressive 9-4 win over Ohio State (9-2, 0-1 B1G) thanks to some impressive play on both sides of the field. The victory at University Park was in front of a record crowd at Penn State Lacrosse Field of 3,172 fans.

The win moves Penn State to the consensus No. 1 team nationally in the USILA Coaches Poll, the Inside Lacrosse poll and the US Lacrosse Magazine poll. The Nittany Lions currently have the best record in the nation and are one of two Top 25 undefeated teams along with the Inside Lacrosse poll No. 3 squad Hofstra.

Against Ohio State the Lions edged OSU in shots 39-35 with an array of scorers including attackmen Grant Ament and Mac O'Keefe and midfielders Kevin Hill, Dan Craig and Nick Spillane.

The impressive play of Penn State landed them on the cover of US Lacrosse Magazine for the month of April.

Penn State's 10-0 record marks its best start in program history and ties the program record for consecutive wins.

Next up the Nittany Lions face No. 8 Maryland (4/8 - away), No. 11 Johns Hopkins (4/15 - away) and No. 13 Rutgers (4/23 - home) and Michigan (4/29 - away).
