Senior Day for Penn State's men's lacrosse team saw one of the most dominating performances of the season for the Nittany Lions. The No. 10 Lions posted a 13-7 victory over No. 13 Rutgers (9-4, 1-3 Big Ten), which handed PSU the annual Friendship Cup, awarded to the winner of the clash between the Nittany Lions and Scarlet Knights. Penn State has a 12-5 edge in the series.
With a 45-26 shot edge and 29-14 shots of goal advantage, the Nittany Lions cruised to a solid victory in the last home game of the season. Rutgers' 26 shots were the fewest an opposing team has had against Penn State this year.
In terms of offense, freshman Mac O'Keefe (pictured above) led the pace again, grabbing his eighth hat trick of the season, moving to fifth all-time in single-season goals.
The victory, played in front of a record PSU crowd of 3,208 on Sunday, advanced Penn State to 11-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play this season. The Lions also clinched a bid to the Big Ten Tournament. Next up, the Nittany Lions go on the road to Ann Arbor to close out the regular season against Michigan.
