Penn State Wrestling Lands Verkleeren

Cael Sanderson lands another top prospect in No. 13 national recruit Jarod Verkleeren, pulling him away from his own alma mater, Iowa State.

Penn State wrestling continues to roll as Cael Sanderson lands Jarod Verkleeren, the No. 13 overall Class of 2017 prospect and the No. 1 recruit at 145-pounds according to InterMat. The Pennsylvania native was originally an Iowa State commitment before the Cyclones released him from his letter of intent after ISU hired Kevin Dresser to be head coach.

His wrestling resume is impressive as a Cadet Freestyle World Champion and member of the prestigious Young Guns Wrestling Club. He also won the 2017 PIAA AAA 145-pound championship.

Verkleeren joins a Nittany Lion class that already boasts top prospects in No. 4 Nick Lee and No. 6 Brady Berge. He selected Happy Valley as his collegiate destination over Iowa State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Missouri, North Carolina State and Virginia.
