Penn State Lax Teams Head to NCAAs

Both Penn State's men's and women's lacrosse squads are headed to the NCAA Tournament after strong regular season performances.

The No. 7 Penn State men's lacrosse team and No. 5 Nittany Lion women's lacrosse teams are each headed to their NCAA Tournaments to close out strong 2017 seasons.

The PSU men's squad (12-3, 3-2 B1G) will face Towson (10-4, 4-1 CAA) on Saturday, May 13 in a home clash at Penn State Lacrosse Field. The Lions earned an at-large bid thanks to tying the program's win record with 12 this season.

This will be Penn State's fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament with previous appearances in 2003, 2005 and 2013.

Penn State's men's team is coming off a historic regular season, tying the program's single-season win record with 12. Freshman Mac O'Keefe set the rookie goal record with 48 scores and sits just two away of the program's single-season record.

Penn State's women's team (15-3) will also serve as a host for the NCAA Tournament with first and second round games taking place at University Park. As the No. 4 seed the Lions have a first round bye and will square off with the victor of the opening round game between James Madison (13-6) and Louisville (11-7). PSU's second round match will take place on Sunday, May 14.

The Nittany Lions will be led by senior attacker Steph Lazo who was honored as Big Ten Attack Player of the Year selected by the conference coaches.

This mark's 23rd NCAA Tournament bid for PSU's women's team and the sixth straight for the Lions.
