Penn State WR Commit Shorter Stars At Another Camp

The future Nittany Lion receiver tore up the Under Armour All-America Camp in New Jersey Sunday, earning an invitation to UA's all-star game.

MONTVALE, N.J. — Name a sneaker company-sponsored camp, and Penn State receiver commit Justin Shorter has dominated it this spring.

In late April, Shorter shredded The Opening Regional camp at the New York Jets' training facility in Florham Park, N.J., being crowned the Nike event's fastest man, earning WR/TE MVP honors and taking home an invite to The Opening finals in Oregon this summer.

Shorter was at it again at the Under Armour All-America Camp at St. Joseph's Regional High here Sunday, starring as a receiver and landing a coveted invitation to the Under Amour All-America Game in Orlando in January.

Afterward,'s Sam Hellman caught up with Shorter.

Shorter talks about being invited to the Under Armour Game, the fact that fellow PSU recruits Justin Fields and Ricky Slade have also received invites, how he thinks he'll fit into the Nittany Lion offense and more.

As for what he wants to show Penn State fans while is in Orlando, that's easy.

"I'm just gonna try to be the best wideout there,” he said with a smile. "You guys are gonna see me ball out.”

• Hellman on Shorter's performance at the Under Armour Camp: "Shorter became a go-to receiver to the point where quarterbacks requested him in competitive periods. Shorter showed breakaway speed down the sidelines and came back to the ball on underthrown passes. Multiple cornerbacks tried to jam him at the line of scrimmage in one-on-ones. They were not successful."

• Shorter could only talk for a limited time after camp, but it was with good reason. He had to go work at his part-time job.
