There had been some rumblings for a few weeks regarding 2018 QB Justin Fields possibly decommitting from Penn State. Unfortunately for Penn State, there was a lot of truth to those rumblings as Fields announced his decommittment from Penn State via twitter Tuesday night:
Fields, who has certainly seen his recruitment blow up since his committed to Penn State, has received a lot of interest from the SEC as of late. According to Fields, Penn State will still factor into his recruitment.
FOS will keep you updated on his recruitment.
Cleezy's Take: Penn State already has a strong 2018 recruiting class that's currently ranked No. 6 nationally and No. 2 in the Big Ten Conference. Even though it has to sting (even if a little bit) to lose two five-star commits (the other being Micah Parsons) within the past two months, head coach James Franklin and staff have more than enough time to continue building the 2018 class with top-tier recruits. That's not to say that Parsons and Fields won't commit again in the future. It's to say that it'll be business as usual for Penn State on the recruiting trail once the dust settles.
