We're not even officially out spring 2017, but Penn State has already set the date for the annual scrimmage that will wrap up spring practice in 2018. http://www.scout.com/college/penn-state/story/1783321-2019-ohio-4-star-d...
Thursday afternoon, PSU announced that the 2018 Blue-White Game will be played at Beaver Stadium on April 21 of next year. Kickoff time has yet to be set.
This announcement also gives Nittany Lion fans an idea of when spring practice will start next year. The NCAA mandates that teams are allowed 15 total practices over a 34-day period. That means that more than likely, spring drills will begin the week of March 19.
In semi-related news, the date of the Blue-White Game is often impacted by the day on which Easter falls in a given year. That will not be the case in 2018. In a unique twist, Easter is April 1 next, meaning the holiday coincides with April Fool's Day. It will mark the first time since 1956 Easter has fallen on April 1.
James Franklin's team held the Blue-White Game on April 22 this year, and an estimated crowd of 70,000 was on hand for the competition.
The games has drawn more than 50,000 fans in nine of the last 11 years.
