PSU Interested in Virginia Athlete

He plays several positions on both offense and defense. His versatility and athletic ability has caused him to receive a high level of interest from several top Division 1 schools, including Penn State.

Marshawn Harvey of Huguenot High School in Richmond, VA plays several positions.  He is 6'4", 195 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds.  On offense, Marshawn plays quarterback.  Last year, he completed 76 of 125 passes for 1,720 yards and 16 touchdowns.  Occasionally, he gets a chance to play wide receiver as well.  Although some schools are interested in Marshawn playing wide receiver, most schools are recruiting him to play SS or DB.  Last season, he made made 79 tackles from his SS position.  He also assisted on 8 tackles, had 7 interceptions and sacked the opposing QB 6 times.

According to Marshawn, he has 7 offers.

"Michigan, Penn State, Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, North Carolina and Michigan State have offered," he said.  "Virginia, Penn State and Michigan are recruiting me the hardest."

He attended a camp at Penn State this summer and was given a tour while there.

"They took about 4 of us around," he said.  "We saw the weight lifting facilities, the practice field and the game field.  It was good."

Marshawn says that he has no favorites at this time.  In addition to Penn State, Marshawn has taken unofficial visits to Virginia and Michigan.

"I'm looking for an open atmosphere and friendly people," he said.  "I'll probably major in civil engineering or sports medicine."

Marshawn is not yet qualified because he has not taken the SAT yet.
