"Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Miami," answered Devon when asked for a list of his top teams.

He took an official visit to Notre Dame a week and a half ago and enjoyed the trip. He had been to South Bend a few times previously for unofficial visits.

Devon will also take an official visit to Michigan State during the first weekend in November and will attend the Spartans game against rival Michigan (November 1).

Will he take official visits to his other 3 favorites?

"Yes sir, I'm going to try. Most likely."

Does the fact that he set up official visits to Notre Dame and Michigan State first make them his top 2?

"Not really yet," he said after some hesitation. "There isn't really a top one yet."

Devon has unofficially visited each of his top 5 schools with the exception of Miami.

Lyons took his first visit to Penn State for April's Nike Camp where he performed very well. He returned to State College in the summer for an unofficial visit with his father, brother and teammate Darrin Walls.

"It was nice. It was real nice. We got a tour. I talked to Coach Paterno. I talked to the whole coaching staff really. I went over some film on how they do things up there. I watched some film on their safeties and receivers up there to inform me how I would fit into their system.

"Being that I'm here from Pennsylvania, I never really took a look at Penn State and I really didn't think it was going to be like that. It was pretty nice. It had a nice campus, nice environment. Coach Paterno's funny, he's a nice coach too. I talked to him like the whole day almost, he was with us."

Will he take an official visit to Penn State?

"I'm probably going to take one. I can't say for sure yet."

Miami is recruiting Devon to play safety. The others are recruiting him to play either safety or wide-receiver. Lyons does not have a preference. He believes he will make his final decision after his football season.
