VA QB Hearing From Favorites

Bush Hamdan impressed at both the April Nike Camp at Penn State and the Elite 11 QB Regional Workout in Las Vegas in late June. Now fully recovered from last season's leg injury, Hamdan is enjoying his senior season and has been talking with several colleges. Has PSU called?

Name: Bush Hamdan
Position: QB
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 185 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.75
Hometown/School: Bishop Denis J O'Connell HS, Arlington, VA

Prior to his game this past Saturday, Bush had thrown for approximately 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns in 6 games.

"We won this weekend, 27-14," Bush said regarding Saturday's contest. "I threw 2 touchdowns and had a pretty good game."

He recently took an unofficial visit to one of his favorites.

"I took an unofficial visit to Maryland to see them play West Virginia. It was a good experience. They actually played real well. I think that was two weekends ago.

"I went to camp there for one day this summer, but it was the first time I had actually seen a game there. It was great. Everything was real first class. It was just a real good experience I think, having the opportunity to go and meet with the coaching staff and getting to see the atmosphere. It was a really good atmosphere, so, overall, it went real well.

"I gave them some tape and I feel that they're interested, the same kind of thing that I've been hearing from a lot of other schools. I think they're waiting to see what happens with Jordan Steffy and a couple guys, but I really feel that I am on their radar, so I feel that something could happen."

Hamdan, who is still awaiting his first scholarship offer, previously sent highlights and complete game footage of his first 2 games this season to his 4 favorites: Maryland, UCLA, Penn State and Syracuse.

"I'm trying to make a new tape this weekend of some more games, some more highlights and get them out."

He's heard from each of his favorites recently.

"I've been receiving a lot of calls from UCLA, about every week, and also Syracuse on a weekly basis. I've talked to Coach Seamonson (Maryland) actually, who's kind of been the guy recruiting me for a while, so I receive calls from them."

The Nittany Lions have called since the last time Hamdan and LionNews spoke.

"I guess the last call was about a week and a half ago, Coach Johnson. I receive a call here and there from Penn State. I'm still not exactly sure where they stand with me. I have received calls from Coach Johnson the past month and they've been sending me letters and stuff. I think Penn State's called 2 or 3 times (since September 1). I think 1 or 2 of the times, I haven't been home. I think I actually had a game or something, but we've pretty much been touching base on the season and stuff.

"My feelings really haven't changed much about Penn State even after some tough losses that they've had. It's a program that's been around for so long and has been so successful. I definitely believe that down the road, this team's going to get right back to where they were."
