"I probably have a little over seventy tackles already, and about 12 or 13 sacks," William said. "We've played 5 games. We're 5-0. We have a winning streak down in Florida. We're in the midst of a 40-game winning streak including 3 state championships."
Glade Central won the 4A Division State Championship in 1998, and the 3A State Championship the past 2 years.
William named Georgia, LSU, Boston College and Florida State as recruiting him the hardest. Florida State was William's favorite team growing up, but they have not offered William a scholarship yet.
William attended camps at Pitt and Georgia this summer.
"One of our coaches has a brother that goes to Pittsburgh," William said. "He's our J.V. coach. He was going up there to visit his brother and I heard about the camp. So, I asked him about the camp and he told me the price. Me and a couple of players on the team went up with him. It was about a 20-hour drive. The camp was great. I learned a lot. I got a chance to see some of the players. It was the off-season, but they were still at school working out. I got a chance to see them practice."
He claims to have no clear favorites at this point.
"No, not right now. I don't really want to set my mind on certain teams. I just want to play the season out and take my visits. By the end of the season, I'll know which teams I will visit. Pitt and Georgia could be considered my favorites right now, only because I went to camps at those schools."
He has heard from many schools, including Penn State.
"I receive a lot of mail from Penn State. I think they called me a couple of time in the spring. Recently, I've been getting so many calls that I can't catch a lot of calls. I haven't received an offer from them yet. That's a good school, especially for linebackers. Penn State has had some awesome linebackers. They're a good school in my mind too. I'm very interested in them."
William does not concern himself with the year-to-year performance of teams.
"No, because I know that in college, the team changes every year. With a little change here and a little change there, a team could win the national championship."
The location of a college will not be the determining factor in William's decision-making process.
"I'm not just focusing on Florida teams. Distance is not a problem for me. I just want to be comfortable where I am."
According to William, his grades are good and he will be taking the ACT on 10/27. He wants to major in business management.
