Jordan's disappointment following his team's first loss of the season last week to the number five team in the state was tempered this week when he received a scholarship offer from Penn State to play quarterback for the Nittany Lions.

When LionNews spoke with Jordan last week, he had not yet heard from the Penn State coaching staff since Coach Carter attended his game verses Lithia Springs on October 17. That changed on Tuesday evening.

"Yeah, I was offered a scholarship a couple of days ago. I just received the letter yesterday evening. They told me the day before. Coach Carter called me and he told me that I was receiving a scholarship and Mr. Paterno signed the letter and also wrote a nice, little message on the bottom of it."

Jordan is planning a trip to State College this month to check out the campus.

"We're visiting up there the 15th I believe. I still have to talk to Coach Carter about it, but I'm pretty sure that it is an unofficial visit."

How much time will he spend in Happy Valley?

"I'll probably have to go up on that Saturday and I'll probably come home either that evening or probably Sunday morning. I don't know if he wants me to stick around, I don't know if he wants it to be an official visit, but I'll find out. My parents probably will both go with me."

Lyons will visit Michigan State the following week.

"I'm pretty sure that the one to Michigan State is going to be an official visit. He seems to want me to stay up there the whole weekend and view the campus."

Jordan is unsure as to the timing and destination of other official visits. He does not have a favorite team at this point in time, but he is obviously interested in both Penn State and Michigan State.

"Yeah, and Maryland and Stanford. I haven't gotten accepted yet to Stanford and that's pretty much the only thing I'm waiting on. After I make all my visits, I'll decide and probably choose one hopefully early December."

Penn State, Maryland, Michigan State and Georgia have all offered Lyons a scholarship. Stanford has not yet offered.

"I only have a couple of pieces of my application that are missing, and once I get all that in and I get accepted, then they'd probably offer me a scholarship."
