Ahmad Brooks Will Visit PSU

Ahmad Brooks is arguably the top linebacker prospect in the nation. The good news for Nittany Lion fans is that he has decided to take an official visit to Penn State.

Name: Ahmad Brooks
Position: LB / RB
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 230 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.5
Bench Press: 360 pounds
School: C.D. Hylton, Woodbridge, Virginia

Ahmad has decided where he will be taking his 5 official visits.

"Florida State, Virginia Tech, UVa, Penn State and Tennessee," Ahmad said.  "Virginia Tech is next weekend, and the rest of them are in January."

Ahmad is set to visit Florida State on January 12, Virginia on January 19 and Tennessee on January 26.

"I haven't quite squeezed Penn State in yet.  I was trying to get a visit in early, but it hasn't happened yet.  I still have to pick a date.

"I have to go to my sister's wedding on December 28."

Hopefully, Penn State and Ahmad can work out a suitable date soon.

Larry Johnson is recruiting Ahmad for Penn State, who offered Ahmad a scholarship when he was a sophomore.

Why has Ahmad decided to visit Penn State?

"I wanted to take all 5 visits, and Penn State was just another school I'm considering, because it's Penn State, Linebacker U."

"Right now, I don't have a favorite."

Ahmad has already been to Penn State this year for the Nike Camp in April.  He has had some initial apprehension about the location of Penn State's campus.

"When I saw the area, it just looked like it was in the middle of nowhere."

Fortunately, Ahmad has decided to take another, longer look around.

Miscellaneous notes:  The interview was Sunday night.  Virginia Tech Head Coach Frank Beamer was going to have an in-house visit with Ahmad that evening.  I called back Tuesday night to see if Penn State had been in touch, but Florida State was there for an in-house visite.  His older brother said Penn State is definitely in Ahmad's top 5 and thought Ahmad was visiting Penn State in January.
