Where Does PSU Stand With Borgoyn?

Brian Borgoyn is a big OT from Woodland Hills High in Pittsburgh, PA. He is an extremely talented offensive lineman that could help the Nittany Lions regain national prominence.

Name: Brian Borgoyn
Position: OT
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 290 pounds
40-yard dash: 5.0 seconds
Bench Press: 320 pounds
School: Woodland Hills High School, Pittsburgh, PA
Offers: around 30

Brian has been a dominant force on the offensive line, helping Woodland Hills to a 6-0 record.  His team is currently ranked 12th in the country by USA Today.  QB Steve Breaston, another Woodland Hills player being recruited by PSU, has also been a huge factor in the Wolverine's success.

Brian has earned around 30 scholarship offers already and listed Iowa, Pitt, Penn State, Florida and Boston College as recruiting him the hardest.  He does favor one team slightly over several others right now.

"My favorite now is probably Michigan," Brian admitted.  "They've offered.  I was up there this summer.  The skill players on our team went to a passing competition at Northwestern, and we stopped at Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State and Notre Dame along the way.  The coaches took me along to see the schools."

"It's tough to name a top 5.  I'd say Michigan, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Boston College and Pitt.  Georgia Tech is probably in there too.  They're recruiting me pretty hard as well."

He has previously named Wisconsin as one of his favorites, have they fallen?

"No, they're still up there. I'm trying not to have levels of favorites.  I'm trying to stay open until I make my visits.  Once I get done all my visits, I going to say 'This schools is the best for me' and choose that one."

How about Penn State?

"Yeah, I still like Penn State a lot.  I took a lot of unofficial visits up there.  I've been there 4 times this past year.  I went up the week before the Miami game, for the Miami game, the Wisconsin game and the Michigan game.  My mom wanted to see the campus (the week before the Miami game).  She liked it a lot.  The coaches told me that there is a good opportunity for me to play by my sophomore year.  It's close to home, not like Pitt which is about 10 minutes away, but it's pretty close."

PSU's bad start will not have an impact on Brian's decision.

"Not really, I'm not really looking for a total football thing.  Even though they're losing.  They've cycled.  All teams have cycled.  Even though Penn State's never been this bad, they can only get better.  It really hasn't had too much of an affect on how I view them."

Brian also mentioned that there are currently 4 players at Pittsburgh that played for Woodland Hills and are "pulling me there".  Those are William Ferguson, Lousaka Polite, Shawntae Spencer and Tyre Young.  Brian knows each of them well.  He's been to Pitt "more times than I can count", including a camp there this summer.

Distance is "not real important" to Brian in making his decision, but it could be used as a tiebreaker between 2 schools.

He has 2 official visits scheduled so far.  He will visit Northwestern on 12/8 and Florida on 1/19.  He will also visit Michigan and probably Boston College.

"I'm looking for a good combination of football and academics.  Michigan definitely has that, along with Northwestern too."

He would like to either major in Criminal Justice or Law, and become an FBI agent.
