Maryland's Reggie Holmes

Reggie Holmes is the cousin of Wayne Holmes, who lettered for Penn State in 1994. Reggie plays MLB and has received several impressive scholarship offers.

Name: Reggie Holmes

Bench Press: 355 pounds
School: Bowie Hills High School, Bowie, MD (Division 4A)

Reggie plays both MLB and TE for Bowie High and has helped lead the Bulldogs to a record of 5-1.  Reggie says that he is being recruited solely as a MLB.

"I like to run around and hit people," Reggie said.  "It's kind of fun.  I believe I have at least 70 tackles.  I had 60-something last week, and this week I had 13 tackles.  I had one real big game against Douglas where I had 21 tackles.  They just ran the ball the whole game."

The University of Maryland is only about 20 minutes from Reggie and was the first to offer him a scholarship.  Reggie also admitted that Maryland is currently recruiting him the hardest.  However, Reggie does not list any favorites at this time, but is interested in all the schools that have offered.

Reggie attended a summer camp at Maryland.  He also attended several games at Maryland when they played against North Carolina, Eastern Michigan and West Virginia.

Reggie became a Penn State fan in the early 90's.  However, he no longer seems interested in playing for the Nittany Lions.

"My cousin Wayne Holmes played for Penn State.  He played when they won the Rose Bowl in 1994.  He played offensive tackle.  I talked to them [Penn State], but you know I really didn't have a big interest in them.  I have no real reason.  The only time I really talked to anybody is when I went up for a combine (the Nike Camp)."

Penn State has not been in contact with Reggie, which may be the reason for his lack of interest.

Location "does not really matter" to Reggie, but he would like the opportunity to play early in his college career.

"I'm trying to find a place with a solid program.  I also want to go to a place where I can get a fair chance to get playing time, to get an opportunity to fight for a spot.  I have the ability to play as a true freshman, that's how I look at it."

He does not have any official visits scheduled.

"I'm waiting until after the season to line everything up.  I'll concentrate on that a little later."

Reggie would like to major in TV Production.
