QB Schedules Visit to Penn State

Sto-Rox HS produced ex-PSU star QB Chuck Fusina. Will Adam DiMichele, the Associated Press Class A Player of the Year, follow his footsteps to Penn State? When will he visit and has Penn State offered?

Name: Adam DiMichele
Position: QB
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 175 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.69
School: Sto-Rox HS, McKees Rocks, PA

Adam DiMichele (pronounced dee MY kul) finished his career as the all time passing leader in WPIAL history with 6,741 yards. A full-time starter since his sophomore season, Adam had a fine senior year with 2,706 yards and 36 TD passes and was named the Associated Press Pennsylvania Class A Player of the Year.

DiMichele is being recruited for football, basketball and baseball. What colleges are recruiting him for football?

"A variety. A few big schools, then Divison I-AA and then some Division II. Syracuse. Penn State. Delaware is recruiting me, Youngstown State, some Patriot League schools like Fordham and Lehigh. I have football offers from Edinboro, Slippery Rock and Fordham. William & Mary wants me to visit. Hofstra wanted me to visit and said they would offer, but I had to cancel the visit. They're still high on me."

Adam continued, "I was getting looked at by South Carolina. They brought someone in to get a film for me, but I think they signed someone else. That's the same thing that happened with Notre Dame. They came in and said they wanted to go with a bigger quarterback. Hopefully something works out with one of the two other schools (Syracuse and Penn State). If not, if one of the other ones fit, then I'll probably play football there. Otherwise, I'm probably going to look at a different sport. I have a baseball offer from North Carolina Charlotte and Slippery Rock actually offered for all three sports."

When did Penn State start showing interest?

"Penn State has been recruiting me for awhile. They were trying to go after that Henne kid who is going to Michigan and Morelli who's going to Pitt, and they fell through, so they didn't have a QB in this recruiting class. They told me they're going to sign 2 or 3. They already signed one (Paul Cianciolo), and they're looking at me and I think two other kids. Kevin Suhey's going there also, but he's not going in until January (2005)."

DiMichele went on to say, "Coach Bradley visited my school twice last week. He said they would let me know if things are going good and I'm part of their plans and if they're going to offer. If things don't work out, they'll help with any other schools I'm looking to go to. An official visit is set up on January 17th. I'm planning to go up there with good intentions to meet Coach Paterno and the rest of the coaching staff to see if I'm the right fit for them. My parents will head up with me. This will be a good trip even if things don't work out."

Syracuse was the first major school to express interest in Adam. Are they still interested?

"Syracuse has been there since 10th grade. In 10th grade they were real high on me but they've seen bigger guys and they fell off this year. They're back in on me a little bit. Their coach came to visit my school last Wednesday. Syracuse wants me to visit on the 24th if things work out and they have a slot for me."

Does Adam have a favorite and why?

"Penn State. I like everything about it. They're one of the top-notch schools. They're having a rebuilding year but their coaching staff is great. I know a few kids that are already up there. Their tradition. I can't wait to visit. I know A.Q. Shipley. Shipley is my buddy. We've been playing basketball against each other since the 6th grade. I know Posluszny, Tyrell Sales and Dontey Brown. If something works out, that would be great."
