PA Lineman Discusses Visit To PSU

Mark Farris was in attendance at Beaver Stadium this past weekend, as Penn State defeated Ohio State, giving Coach Joe Paterno his record-breaking 324th win. Mark talks about his visit.

Name: Mark Farris
Position: OL / DT
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 280 pounds
40-yard dash: 5.0
School: North Hills High School, Pittsburgh, PA

Mark went to Penn State with his parents and sister.  They were able to witness a terrific comeback by the Nittany Lions, who over came a 27-9 deficit to beat the visiting Buckeyes of Ohio State.

"It was a good game," Mark said.  "It was really a great experience, a historic game in Penn State history.  It just shows that they are a team that can come back from a deficit like that.  They're just always a quality team, basically.  They're Penn State".

He also attended the post-game press conference.

While at Penn State, Mark got a chance to take his own tour of the campus.

"I went around campus with my friend, just one of my school friends that goes there. We basically just saw the dorms, and the general areas where the students go."

Mark was also able to visit with Andrew Richardson and his family.  Mark and Andrew are friends, and were teammates at North Hills.  Andrew signed with Penn State in February and plays TE for the Nittany Lions.

Mark is only interested in a handful of schools at this point,  "just the usual, Pitt, Penn State, Virginia, the Michigan schools, BC and Georgia Tech."

He has no favorite right now, and said that Penn State would probably be in his top 5.  He did admit to growing up as a Penn State fan, and watches their games.  He does not concern himself with teams' records.

In addition to Penn State, Mark has unofficially visited Pitt, Michigan, Michigan State and Virginia.  He will visit Miami, who has offered, officially on December 15th.  He is not sure yet as to where he will be taking his other 4 official visits, and is in no hurry to make a decision.

"I'll probably decide sometime after the season, when I get done with the visits I want to take."
