Lion News recently spoke with Ron Leary, father of West Chester East's powerful 6-4, 285lbs. offensive lineman Kevin Leary. Ron brought us up to speed with Kevin's recruitment.
"Kevin attended Penn State's first Junior Day back in February. He absolutely loved it. He just really loved everything about it".
What stood out the most to Kevin?
"Just everything. They have a beautiful campus, their facilities are second to none, and Kevin really likes the coaches up there".
Has Kevin received an offer yet?
"No. He doesn't have any offers yet, but we think he's getting pretty close. Kirk Ferentz is sending hand written personal letters. Pitt, Notre Dame, some Big10 and ACC schools are all sending a lot of mail. He's getting mail every day now.
What about Penn State?
Ron Vanderlinden and Mike McQueary are both sending Kevin mail every week. Kevin loves McQueary. He's such a nice guy".
Why is everyone after Kevin so hard?
"The head coach at East, Joe Carroll, sent out Kevin's tape to those schools. The tape has Kevin doing 3 reps of 600lbs. squats. They liked that".
What are Kevin's plans from here?
"Kevin is definitely going to the Penn State Nike Camp. He can't wait to get back up there and show them what he can do".
