|Hometown/School:||Randallstown HS, Randallstown, MD|
Jamari McCollough played last season in the shadow of teammate and DB Maryland recruit Christian Varner. So far this off-season, he has seen teammate Melvin Alaeze garner most of the attention. McCollough did receive all-star mention last season, though, as he snagged 6 interceptions and returned 2 for touchdowns. He also is an excellent kick returner.
Before a playoff game last fall, Randallstown HS Head Coach Albert Howard went on record as saying that Jamari will be as good as Varner this coming season. Lion News had a chance to speak briefly to McCollough at the Nike Camp. He did not participate in any drills at Nike due to an ankle injury.
We asked Jamari which schools were looking at him. He replied, "Michigan, Maryland, Ohio State, Temple, Penn State."
Who has offered?
"I got offered by Rutgers, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Temple, Michigan State."
Coach Larry Johnson is recruiting McCollough for the Nittany Lions and has visited Jamari at his school. Has Penn State talked about offering?
"They want me to come down to the (football) camp." Are you going to do that? "Yes."
Laughing, Jamari said, "All of them".
