Jeremy Bruce Shines at Nike Clinic

Beaver Falls, PA cornerback prospect Jeremy Bruce used a 40" vertical jump and some serious speed at the recent Penn State Nike Clinic to attract the attention of the PSU coaching staff. It worked. Coach Tom Bradley made a beeline to Blackhawk HS to get tape of Jeremy to bring back to State College.

Lion News recently spoke to Joe Hamilton, head coach at Blackhawk HS in Beaver Falls, PA. He told us about his star cornerback prospect Jeremy Bruce.

"Jeremy went up to the Nike Clinic to show what he could do. He ran a 4.4 forty up there after running a 4.38 at Joe Butler's Metro Index Clinic. He also did a 40 plus vertical jump. That gets you noticed because college coaches really like to see how much explosion you have."

Jeremy is a 5-10, 180lb. cornerback who also plays the running back spot for Blackhawk HS. How did Jeremy do running the ball last year?

"He ran for 1,800 yards. I'm not sure how many carries he had, but his yards per carry were real high."

Coach Hamilton told us that Jeremy is both very strong and very quick.

"He squats 500 pounds and benches 325 pounds, but he's super quick. He can cover anyone at this level."

Coach told us that while Jeremy can "cut and make people catch air" while running the ball, colleges envision him as a cornerback in college.

Is the rumor that West Virginia offered Jeremy a scholarship true?

"Yes, they are sending an offer in the mail".

So where does Penn State fit into all of this?

"Penn State liked Jeremy so much at the Nike Clinic that Tom Bradley was in my office at 7am on the Monday after the Nike Clinic. Tom took back a film of Jeremy with him to State College."

Jeremy plans on coming back to State College for summer camp. Does Jeremy like Penn State?

"Yeah, he sure does!"
